About the project/organization
Canada Art Archive (CAA)is a yet-to-be-launched digital archive of audiovisual interviews with Canadian art dealers, curators, and artists.
The mandate of CAA is to capture the impact of Canadian art dealers and their contributions to contemporary art history.
Who is involved?
Brendan A. de Montigny
The idea originated at de Montigny Contemporary. While researching the history of 20th-century art dealers in Canada, director Brendan de Montigny discovered how little documentation exists. DMC believes it is essential to record all dimensions of contemporary art history, mainly since art historians so often write about artists whose careers were first championed by dealers, by aiding their acquisitions into museums, binnenials, and other institutions.
Art Dealers Association of Canada - Mackenzie Sinclair
DMC is a member of the ADAC, and Mackenzie and the ADAC team are supporting and collaborating with DMC and Canada Art Archive.
Who can access it?
Anyone, as long as they create a free account.
What can it be used for?
Research and citations within publications. CAA will reserve the right to repurpose the content for Podcasts or M&E purposes.
