We are looking for an energetic, hands-on individual interested in emerging artists and established artists in Canada and internationally. 

About the organization
Gagné Contemporary runs two galleries in Toronto – the main gallery at 401 Richmond St W (West End), and the project space at 136 Brooklyn Avenue in the Laneway (East End). Originating in New York City in 2016 as a curatorial project, the gallery moved to Toronto in 2020 and apart from the two exhibition spaces also runs an art advisory for select art collectors.

About the placement
We are seeking an intern to learn the responsibilities of a gallery assistant. The ideal candidate is able to work on-site at both GC galleries in Toronto – Gagné Contemporary at 401 Richmond St W, and Gagné Contemporary Projects at 136 Brooklyn Ave, coachhouse in laneway.

Duties include art handling, installation and tear-down of shows, exhibition documentation, research, media production. Candidate must be fully conversant with the Adobe Creative Suite of software – Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator – and be able to produce and edit video sequences – Adobe Premiere, Rush, etc. – for social media.

Timing or hours of placement: The placement is up to a maximum of 8-10 hours per week for 12 weeks during the Fall 2025 semester (Sept-Dec). Placement begins the week of Sept. 2. The gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday, 12-5pm. Timing of the placement throughout the week to be discussed with the placement supervisor.

Credit: Half credit (0.5). This internship is for pass/fail course credit at the University of Toronto through the Department of Art History. This is not a paid position.
