About the Founder: Tatum Dooley is a writer, strategist, and the founder of Art Forecast, a PR and communications agency dedicated to raising the visibility of art, design, and culture. Her writing on culture has appeared in Artforum, Architectural Digest, Garage Magazine, The Globe & Mail, The Walrus, Lapham’s Quarterly, The Toronto Star, and Vogue.
Alongside her career as an art writer, Tatum has consulted for leading institutions, galleries, and cultural organizations. She draws on her experience in the art-tech sector, where she developed brand strategies from the ground up, crafting narratives that bridged technology and culture.
About the placement:
The intern will get the opportunity to support Art Forecast initiatives across the company, focusing on editorial and communication goals. Key responsibilities include:
● Research and ideation for social media content for Substack Notes and Instagram posts (combined audience of 20k).
● Creation, editing, and organization of press contacts in a CRM database.
● Assisting with copy editing and press release drafts with a focus on crafting compelling narratives for galleries, artists, and cultural organizations.
● Email management, including responding to inbound emails, sending mail merges, and scheduling client interviews.
● Promotion of upcoming events and tracking of RSVPs. Option to attend events and support with on-the-ground needs.
Requirements:
The intern should have strong time management skills and the ability to work independently. The ability to prioritize work and quickly pivot are skills that will allow an intern to succeed in this placement.
Knowledge of contemporary art, or an openness to learning about it, is a must. The internship will take place remotely. Interns must have their own computer that can access Google Drive. Access to tools such as Airtable and Figma will be provided.
Timing or hours of placement:
The placement is up to a maximum of 8-10 hours per week for 12 weeks during the fall 2025 semester (Sept-Dec). Timing of the placement is flexible and remote; specific timing and remote expectations will be discussed with Tatum Dooley at the start of the internship.
Credit: Half credit (0.5).
This internship is for pass/fail course credit at the University of Toronto through the Department of Art History. This is not a paid position.
