The Department of Art History is pleased to announce that postdoctoral fellow Pierre Marty has been selected as the 2024 winner of the Burlington Magazine Scholarship for the Study of French 18th-Century Fine and Decorative Art.
The scholarship for the study of French 18th-century fine and decorative art was created to provide funding over a 12-month period to those engaged in the study of French 18th-century fine and decorative art to enable them to develop new ideas and research that will contribute to this field of art historical study. This award will enable Pierre to undertake archival research on the ornamentalist and architect Jean-Charles Delafosse, a key figure in the promotion of antique decorative arts. Extending the research project of his U of T postdoctoral fellowship, Pierre will examine how Delafosse shaped 18th-century drawing pedagogy and thereby contributed to the transformation of the built environment.
Please join us in wishing a hearty congratulations to Pierre!
