About the organization:
Lio Projects is an emerging, boutique art advisory firm that works with collectors, interior designers, and businesses to share and display the work of emerging & local artists.

About the placement:
The student intern will assist with researching & sourcing artists to meet client needs, work with business development, assist with outreach & newsletters, social media, etc. The student will also have the opportunity to conduct studio visits and consultations. 

Under the guidance and training of the Rachel Elliott, owner & operator of Lio Projects, the successful candidate will develop skills relevant to the art world and gain an understanding of how a small art advisory firm is run. 

Responsibilities & tasks may include:

Research & Sourcing

  • Main goal will be to find new artists that align with the Lio Projects for certain projects
  • In depth research for specific projects and interior design firm & client goals
  • Assistance with building out artist, gallery, art fair and event rolodex
  • Extensive research on Artist portfolio, CV, progression
  • Extensive research on art world patterns, market prices and collector demographics

Assistance with outreach to Trade/Enterprise

  • Main goal will be to find new contacts for business development

Learning the cycle of content creation.

  • Assistance with Instagram, Newsletters, Mailchimp. 
  • Housekeeping for website, communications and content creation.
  • Build out pinterest and newsletter content

Learning task management skills.

  • Assisting with artist & gallery master lists. Updating information, organizing master rolodex of artists
  • Build out the Master Rolodex so it it complete, manage new client information

Other small tasks will include a small amount of copy editing, event planning & assistance with future community based involvement.

Internship will include visits to galleries, studio visits and on-site art consultations.

Requirements: While some of the work can be conducted remotely, the ideal candidate will be based in or near Toronto to work in person for the bulk of the placement.

Timing or hours of placement: The placement is up to a maximum of 12-15 hours per week for 8 weeks during the first summer 2025 semester (May-June). Timing throughout the week will be discussed with the placement supervisor. Placement begins the week of May 5.

Credit: Half credit (0.5). This internship is for pass/fail course credit at the University of Toronto through the Department of Art History. Only University of Toronto students are eligible. This is not a paid position.
