Description

The Toronto Public Library’s “Thought Exchange” series presents a talk featuring Prof. Ethan Matt Kavaler:

Peter Paul Rubens and the Baroque Imagination

Peter Rubens, whose name is synonymous with baroque art, returned from his travels in Italy to revitalize Flemish painting. Rubens soon became the most sought-after artist for mythological subjects, grand political allegories, and powerful altarpieces in the service of the Catholic church.

This program complements the "Early Rubens" exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
