Description
Wrangling the Catalogue Raisonné: Art, Research, and the Truth in Print Publishing
Sarah Stanners, graduate of the Department of Art History at UofT (PhD ’09) and author/director of the Jack Bush CR Project, presents a behind-the-scenes account of the inception and production of the recently released publication: Jack Bush Paintings: A Catalogue Raisonné. This four-volume catalogue raisonné is one of only two complete catalogue raisonnés on a Canadian artist in print, preceded by David Silcox’s David B. Milne: Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings. Sarah Stanners will be joined by another graduate of the Department, Lucas Elke (MA ‘16), who is the owner/operator of Type A Print Inc., a company dedicated to print book production, serving museums and artists in Canada and abroad. This conversation on art book publishing will be casual and questions are welcome.
The catalogue will be on view in the Department Library and refreshments will be served in the Common Room. All staff and students are encouraged to join this intimate reception to kick off the publication’s release!
