Welcome New Faculty Member: Jessica Mace

We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Jessica Mace has joined the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto as Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, specializing in Canadian Art and Architecture in the Department of Art History.

Dr. Mace brings extensive expertise in Canadian architecture and landscapes to our department. Her research focuses on concepts of modernity and heritage in architecture from the 19th to mid-20th centuries, with particular emphasis on housing and industrial contexts in Canada. This aligns perfectly with our department's ongoing initiatives and will undoubtedly enrich our curriculum.

Dr. Mace's commitment to innovative teaching methods and experiential learning is well-established. She has developed courses that treat Toronto as a living laboratory, incorporating community partnerships and real-world experiences into her curriculum. Her dedication to connecting art history to career opportunities for our students will significantly enhance our educational offerings.

As an accomplished scholar, Dr. Mace has published extensively on Canadian architecture and heritage. She is also the Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada and serves on the Executive Committee of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies.
