Rogers Art Advisory is a boutique firm specializing in collection management, advisory, and appraisal services for clients across Canada and internationally. Katlin Rogers founded RAA in 2024 after nearly a decade of experience in the Canadian art market. Her experience spans auction houses, art consulting firms, commercial galleries, art fairs, and arts publishing. Through client engagement and advisory practices, she is passionate about assisting clients in building and protecting their collections.

RAA has a robust appraisal portfolio including private, corporate and institutional clients. Katlin brings a high calibre of market research and analysis to her appraisal practice, supported by quantitative and qualitative data to substantiate valuation findings. In addition to appraisals for insurance coverage and estate planning for private HNW and UHNW collectors, institutional and corporate collections, RAA has extensive experience providing detailed CCPERB donation appraisals, working with leading art institutions across Canada.

About the Placement

RAA is seeking a student who is interested in working in an agile and multi-faceted arts firm. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to industry cataloguing standards, fact-checking skills, familiarity with social media platforms, and the ability to work independently in a hybrid environment. The fall intern will support Katlin on a variety of appraisal, collection management and client projects. 

All appraisal-related work will be conducted under direct supervision and in accordance with professional standards and confidentiality requirements.

The position is a hybrid work model with a mix of on-site and remote work. Some on-site activities may involve light physical movement within gallery, office, or collection environments. Interns will not be responsible for handling high-value artworks without direct supervision. On-site work will be scheduled as required for collection visits, documentation projects, meetings, and exhibition-related activities.

The successful intern will have supervision from Katlin Rogers, Founder/Director of Rogers Art Advisory.

Tasks may include:

  • Basic image preparation and editing for reports, presentations and collection records
  • File naming and organization
  • Drafting objective artwork descriptions for review and inclusion in reports and collection records
  • Artwork research including provenance and exhibition history
  • Research into artist markets, gallery representation and institutional collections
  • Internal database updates
  • On-site support for artwork documentation
  • Assistance coordinating artwork logistics and documentation
  • Report and presentation deck editing
  • Installation mock-ups
  • Artwork consignment documentation and tracking
  • Website content updates
  • Newsletter drafting support
  • Social media research and content planning

 

Requirements: Strong writing, research, organizational, and communication skills.  Please note that your own laptop is required for this internship. For any database updates, an RAA laptop will be provided for in-person work with Katlin Rogers. Due to the confidential nature of private client and collection information, the successful candidate will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Experience with Photoshop/ Photopea, Canva, InDesign and exposure to collections management databases and digital cataloguing systems are assets.

Learning Outcomes

The successful intern will gain exposure to: 

  • Fine art appraisal methodologies, valuation research, and Canadian art market analysis
  • Collection management standards, cataloguing procedures, and database organization
  • Professional practices within a boutique art advisory and appraisal firm
  • Research methodologies related to provenance, exhibition history, and artist markets
  • The operational and administrative workflows involved in managing private, corporate, and institutional art collections

 

Timing or hours of placement: The placement is roughly 8hrs per week during the Fall 2026 semester (September to December). Hours can be flexible throughout the week. Timing of the placement throughout the week to be discussed with the placement supervisor.

Credit: Half credit (0.5). This internship is for course credit at the University of Toronto through the Department of Art History. Only University of Toronto students are eligible. This is not a paid position.
