
The Department of Art History maintains a Digital Lab for teaching and research purposes. Comprised of nine Mac Mini Apple workstations (M2 Pro processors) and one Mac Studio (M2 Max processor), each with 4K monitors, the lab provides access to software including Adobe Creative Suite, R, QGIS, Metashape, MeshLab, and more. The room features a 98” 4K screen for presentation/teaching and a 4K room camera and soundbar/mic array for remote presentation and hybrid teaching.
When not in use for classes, the room is available upon request (during regular department hours) for faculty and current Art History graduate students wishing to use the workstations for academic projects. Art History undergraduate students interested in using the lab outside of a current course should contact the Visual Resources Curator.
Hours & Availabilty
The lab is available Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (excluding holidays), and can be booked for use when not scheduled for classes/workshops. During the Fall 2025 term, the lab is unavailable during the following blocks:
- Unavailable Tuesdays 10-11am
- Unavailable Thursday 3-5pm

Lab Requirements & Restrictions
- Access to lab workstations requires a valid UofT email address and UTORid.
- Local files are automatically wiped from workstations upon logout. It is recommended work be saved on portable drives or via cloud-based storage such as student OneDrive accounts.
- Food is strictly prohibited in the lab. Only closed-top drinks and waterbottles are allowed.
