Congratulations to Professor Mostafa on Tenure and Promotion

It is with great pleasure that we announce Professor Heba Mostafa has been awarded tenure and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Art History, effective July 1, 2024.

After competing her PhD at Cambridge University’s Department of Architecture, Professor Mostafa held positions at the American University in Cairo and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the Department of Art History at the University of California, Berkeley, the Kunsthistorisches Institute in Florence, and the Kress Foundation Department of Art History at the University of Kansas. Professor Mostafa joined our joined our faculty in 2017 and her research focuses on the history of sacred space, embodiment, and ritual practice in Medieval Islam with a particular interest in the cultural and intellectual history of the central Islamic lands during the first century of the Islamic empire.

In addition to her original research, Professor Mostafa is an exceptional teacher and mentor. She has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses and has supervised numerous student research projects. Her passion for education and commitment to student success are truly inspiring.
